OCFAS MissionThe Orange County Fine Art Society's (IFAS) mission is to both encourage and support the
appreciation of and
creation of fine art with particular emphasis on the painting, drawing, sculpture and photography created by both emerging and established artists. We support and enjoy the arts by attending gallery openings, museums, classes, seminars, and other art related events.
Why OCFASOur belief is that while art can exist in a vacuum; it has to be viewed enjoyed in order for it to be defined as fine art. Therefore, the OCFAS has an emphasis on reaching out to both artists and non-artists alike and places a particular importance on bringing the two together.
Who Should Join OCFASIt is important to note that
you do not have to be an artist or to have artistic talent to join this group. We have events to suit both artists and the art fan. It only matters to us that you can appreciate fine art.
OCFAS EventsIFAS plans to host Club Meetups & Socials (Coffee, Wine, etc.), Meet the Artist Events (Artists Presentations), Art Appreciation Events (General Art Education Seminars), Art Appraisal Seminars / Art Investing Seminars, Art Technique / Skills Seminars (Beginner Level), Art Technique / Skills Seminars (Intermediate Level), Artist Marketing Seminars (Learn to promote your art), attend Gallery Openings / Museum Outings, Painting Get-togethers (Outdoors), Painting Get-togethers (Models), IFAS Art Show (Our own showing), and Art Related Travel events, and more.
Coming SoonBecause not everybody lives near a museum or art community or because not all of us were art history majors, IFAS wants to bring art to you. We will eventually do this by forming regional OCFAS Chapters. Each OCFAS Chapters will have an Art Practioners Group and an Art Patrons Group.
The Art Patrons Group will be chartered by the OCFAS and charged with a threefold goal of (a) educating members, (b) creating interest in art, and (c) bringing art to the community. The Art Practioners Group will be charged with the threefold goal as listed above plus with special opportunities for skill enhancement.
Both groups will be under one chapter. Each chapter will is plan artist exhibitions, educational events, and social events in addition to regular monthly meetings and mixers. These events will feature the works of their own members work and of the work of the members of other chapters work.
We Need YouWe need your help with organization of this group. The OCFAS encourages potential members to attend planning and organizational meetings. Email me to learn more.
Thanks! In summary, if you are an art fan we encourage to join this group and then to tell two friends. As we get more organized, we encourage your active involvement in this group.
