Seattle Plein Air brings artists together who thrive on the immediate and real experiences of creating art in the world. Painting outdoors, or in other actual, real world locations is something started by the Impressionists. They wanted to capture another view of reality, one that was not contrived or idealized. One that showed nature in the moment and normal people going about their normal lives. For the first time, an artist was not confined to the studio.
Boy, did that tick off the rooted art establishment.
Events are not always going to be outside directly, so don't worry about our crazy Northwest weather. No matter your skill level, you are welcome. Are you an art student needing supportive opportunities to practice? A returning artist? There are unlimited possibilities. We'll do our best to find them all.
