Stan Brakhage produced nearly 400 films during his career, many of which he painted by hand. Also very prolific, Bill Viola creates work in a variety of film and video formats. This program presents a selection their "classics," including Brakhage's The Wonder Ring (1955), Window Water Baby Moving (1959), Mothlight (1963), and The Riddle of Lumen (1972) and Viola's Four Songs: Junkyard Levitation, Songs of Innocence, The Space Between the Teeth, and Truth Through Mass Individuation (1976).

This is the first of four screenings at SAAM for Brakhage and Viola.
