Emergence: Creative Pioneers in Uncharted Territory is a summer exhibition of experimental, participatory art involving more than 30 artists / art collectives working in a variety of media, including, with a strong emphasis on audience and artist interaction. The ongoing exhibits will engage visitors as participants, continually changing and offering something new to see with each visit. The public is invited to visit Emergence on Saturdays and Sundays 11 am to 6 pm from now through July 26, 2008.
June 7-8, will be the exhibition's second week. This Saturday, June 7, Joyce Manalo, one of the curators will host a series of EMERGENCE artist talks with an introduction to the curatorial team. She will lead you in a walkthrough of 3 pieces. The idea is to delve into the artist / collective's works and process with Q&A. These artist talks will be half our each, and commences at 1:00pm. Getting to Governors Island
The Governors Island Ferry departs from the Battery Maritime Building at 10 South Street, in Lower Manhattan. This is the old green building from 1908 that is immediately to the left of the Staten Island Ferry building on the East Side of Lower Manhattan. The easiest way to get to the Battery Maritime Building via public transportation is by the #1 train to South Ferry Station, the 4/5 trains to Bowling Green Station, or the W/R trains to Whitehall Street Station. Please check www.mta.org for weekend schedule.
