“ This was such a great day! Some of us never met. There was instant bond. All exploring Peekskill Artists together. Was such a nice experience. Seeing Peekskill thru it's artists was unique. Very inspirational! Lets keep doing special things every so often? Summer.. We can go to "OPUS 40" & "The Quarryman's Museum". It's in Suagerties, (Just outside of Woodstock!). Open from Fri - Sun, noon to 5 pm, $5 admission to hear great MUSIC in an amazing backdrop! Jazz, blues, classical, etc. The Quarry was originally conceived as a setting for Fite's large stone carvings out of an abandoned bluestone quarry. Due to overwhelming gorgeous environment with Overlook Mountain in bkgd, Fite converted quarry into his own statue showcase. It took him 37 years to buid the interwining paths and features to accomodate his statues. Great house/museum. It's a total artistic environment. Bring your coolers & blankies. Just a thought. I loved the center area of Peekskill and can really see the potential there. I hope this community continues to thrive and develop. All the artists were very down-to-earth and friendly, open to discussion, informative and inspirational. ”
