You are invited to the special event! The Opening of ?REMEMBRANCE? a solo exhibition of recent works by emergent Norwegian artist Anki King. Please make plans to attend our Artist Reception!
A brief overview of the artist and her work:
In her new series of oil paintings King extracts imagery through remembered experiences from childhood as well as other memory based work from unconsciously registered situations.
The childhood painting are 30' x 24' and smaller and are often cropped in unexpected ways that emphasizes the narrow view of a child.
The larger paintings contain mature life size figures in full view. The human form is here used as a way of expressing emotions and emotions are an essential force in King?s work.
The figures are not tied to a specific place or time and so become a vehicle for the viewer to create their own metaphor.
Anki King enjoys paint as a living, physical and sensual medium she attempts to guide her images into. She describes it as ?a collaborative process with the paint?. The work emits enjoyment of discovery and surprise from the process itself.
The colors are muted, but the strong and varied brush strokes makes the visual experience forceful and lively.

In New York Anki has built a career as a painter and exhibits regularly both in Europe and in USA. She has shown at The Katonah Museum of Art, The Karpeles Library Museum, and was invited to exhibit at the International Fan exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Tokyo. Last year she had solo exhibits both in Oslo, Norway and in Philadelphia.

She is one of only seven artists invited to exhibit at the first Fall Exhibition at the brand new Preston Contemporary Art Center in New Mexico opening this coming October.

The paintings were really good. Simple yet expressive.
