LONDON CULTURAL RENDEZ-VOUS

The London Cultural Rendez-Vous was launched in February 2008 and is very friendly club. Our aim is to offer a wide range of cultural activities whilst having a good time, meet new interesting people and expand your social life. This is a highly international club.


Events

The London Cultural Rendez-Vous is organizing each week at least one cultural activity. Here are a few examples of what has been done or is planning to be done in the next few months:
- a visit of an exhibition, museum, art gallery followed by a coffee, a drink or a meal
- a film, ballet, theatre play, opera, etc.
- wine testing, diner at typical restaurants (eg Spanish, French etc.)
- seasonal events (eg greyhound's race, horse's race, polo match, cricket match etc.)
- walks in London and day trips outside London
- or any other interesting event

Please have a look at our calendar, there are lots of activities planned for the next few weeks. Try to come to our next event and we will introduce you to our amazing members.


An exclusive Club: How are we different?

Following the success of the London Cultural Rendez-Vous we have decided that it would benefit in becoming an exclusive Club. Because we want our Club to only have active members, the way to permanent membership is in two stages: firstly members are accepted after a pre-approval questionnaire, then members will need to participate to at least one event and pay the £10 annual membership fee within the first three months of joining to gain permanent membership status - or they will be remove from our list. There is no point in belonging to a Club if you never participate to any event!


Membership: Why do we have a membership fee?

The membership fee was brought in April 2008. Our Club has grown from strength to strength since February. Each activity sees a bigger number of people and we can now have group discount. The annual membership fee has been set to £10, a very small price to pay for a year packed with great events with great people. The money given pays for meetup.com website charges, any room hire, organiser admin costs, but most importantly goes in to a budget for large scale events. Such event would not be possible without the advance contributions from members.


Facebook group

I have been informed that it is not easy to communicate between members via the Meetup email system so I have created a group on Facebook called Cultural Rendez-Vous. This group is secret which means that the group will not appear in search results or in the profiles of its members. This also means that Membership is by invitation only, and only members can see the group information (eg. the discussion board, the wall, videos, photos and posted items).
There are two conditions to be added to this Facebook group:
1. you must be a permanent member of our Club
2. you have to have a facebook account, accept me as a friend so that I can send you an invite to the group
The only reason for setting up this group is that permanent members can communicate freely with each others, and keep it confidential if they wish. Joining the facebook group is fully optional. All events will only be posted on the meetup website.


Organisation

I started this meetup and work wholly on a voluntary, part-time basis. I am always looking for people to help, either by sparing time (this could be your chance to gain experience in events) or by contributing ideas - so please do email with your comments, questions or suggestions.
