Introduction: Hey, I'm 2 months new to Phoenix. Moved from Boulder, CO after 28 years! I have been weaving for over 30 years and mainly design clothing and functional housewares. I am a huge supporter of the arts and have given many hours to my local guilds.
Would you be interested in helping plan events for this group?: Planning events is my forte. I've been on several regional boards, and produced an international fashion show. I would be interested in helping in any way/
Tell us about your art or craft?: I am a handweaver who works on an 8 harness loom. I mainly design clothing but also love producing functional housewares. Anni Albers is an inspiration for art v. functionality.
As a new member, do you expect to attend any meetups in the future?: Yes. I live in Ahwatukee so I think I'm fairly close....
What are your expectations of this meetup group and why are you joining?: To meet like minded artists who will introduce me to the Phoenix art scene and it's possibilities.
I am always curious as to each persons definition of "What is Art". In a few words, give me your definition of what art is to you. My definition of art is " a spirit of creativity that flows from mind to hand". Ron: In my craft, art is the ability to create something functional which is also beautiful.
