Art and Cities promotes the better understanding of cities and urban life through art and the role of art and artists in urban renewal. It aims to provide opportunities for exploring all forms of contemporary urban art, including painting, photography, architecture, etc. Activities are likely to include exhibition visits, discussions, visits to areas of interest, studio visits and workshops.
Art and Cities hopes to continue some of the work of the London Arts Café, which, from 1996-2008 produced an extensive programme of activities, many of which were documented in its magazine, 'Art and Cities.'
The final issue of the magazine, still available, is a retrospective look at its 12 years of existence. The London Arts Café web site also gives a good idea of past activities at http://londonartscafe.org.uk
