The Marblehead Arts Association has 2 drawing/painting groups going. The Wednesday session is life (read; nude) drawing, the new Thursday session has a clothed model. Both are held in the MAA Ballroom, 8 hooper st (the King Hooper Mansion), 9 am to 12 noon. If we are able to recruit a sufficient number of volunteer models for the Thursday group, the charge will be only $5 per session for members and $7 for non-members. The charge on Wednesday is $12/members, $15/non-members.

We are looking for costumes--theatrical, vintage, ethnic--as well as volunteer models of any age or level of experience. If you are interested in modeling, the contact people listed below would be glad to discuss the physical demands of modeling with you.

Both groups are open to artists of any skill level, working in any medium. After some short warm-ups, there is one long pose per session, allowing an extended block of time to work on a single composition. It's a relaxed, welcoming environment.

The Thursday group is ideal for newcomers. If you have considered working with live clothed models, or modeling yourself, this is a rare opportunity. Participants need not commit to weekly attendance, and drop-ins are welcome, but we would appreciate hearing from you so we can gauge the level of interest. A good number of easels are available for use. Please bring a drop cloth if using paints.

If you are considering participating as an artist or model, or have access to costumes, contact Barbara Naeser, bsnaeser at comcast.net or Margie Detkin, MDetkin, at comcast.net.

And please forward this notice to anyone you think might be interested!
