For opportunities such as today! Outdoor painting with the safety of a group. None of us would have came by themselves to this location on a weekend. This group was scattered! I didn't see one painter but passersby reported seeing others!

Enjoy a beautiful, (mostly secret - shhh) California State Park. Gorgeous scenery. Three different easy lightly-guided hikes to choose from. Fun quick-sketch painting exercises along the path. Well-behaved children welcome to join us with their participating parents. Call Martha if you have any questions at (916) 776-1000.

Spending just 2-3 hours this way is not too much of a commitment and a good way to get your creative juices flowing again! Try it!

Nothing in the world of 2-dimensional fine art is more exhilarating or challenging than painting the landscape on location. It's not easy but the only way to get better is to get out regularly and keep trying. You meet lots of great people, other artists as well as passers-by, and most people are happy to see you out there and love to stop and admire your work, no matter what level you are. There are hundreds of plein air painting groups all over the country and it's nice to have a network of people to paint with whether you're traveling or in your own neighborhood. Several of us teach plein air painting in vatious locations, so contact me if you need to learn the basics. Happy painting!

It's very non-threatining as far as doing your art and feeling self-conscious. Everyone was busy painting or drawing and was working on their own projects. We were free to choose our subject.

It gives the opportunity to go out and gives a certain degree of exposure of art to the general public.

There's nothing quite so challenging as plein air painting. Time is short, the shadows move faster than you ever thought possible, and somehow you always forget something essential. But painting from life is what it is about. And being outside somehow reminds you of why you want to make art. Come out with us and share this great experience. You'll make friends and you'll grow a little more as an artist with each outing.

I like this group! People were quite scattered about the grounds for this group, however.

You should join this group if you want to get outside and meet other, like-minded, painters. There is the added advantage of lovely venues.

I'm encouraging all of my friends and students to join as the venues are great and it is safer to paint in numbers. Good "Art Spirit"!

I sometimes wander off to paint alone and I know I put myself in a vulnerable position. Painting with others who share a common interest is not only safer, it's energizing and fun to meet new people.

We enjoy finding new locations, we're sociable and fun (and modest!!)...supportive of each other and not competitive with each other. There is no shortage of willingness to share ideas, methods, and information about tools, mediums and sources for furthering our explorations.

It seems to be the only group meeting and publishing its meetings regularly. In addition, it is simple to join and attend with no hassles.

I'd encourage other artists and/or aspiring artists to join this group simply for the chance to share, learn, & hopefully grow as artists. This is a good opportunity to further develop your own artistic abilities & share different approaches & techniques for much less than any art class will cost (nothing!), mutual benefits available to anyone who wants to participate.
